The CacheDrive and Compute components can be resized based on user requirements.

The component must be shutdown before it can be resized.  This can be done from the Action dropdown for the component, from MCM (for the CacheDrive), or from the Windows 10 Pro GUI (for the Compute Element).

To resize a component:

  1. Shutdown the component.
  2. Navigate to the Morro Edge app, click HC Devices in the left side menu, then select the HC device.
  3. Expand the Details section for the component, then click on the Pencil icon next to any of the virtual hardware sizes.
  4. Make the desired changes, then click Confirm.
  5. Start the component.

Configuring the Component

The following options are available when resizing the component:

  • Disk Capacity - Disk size can be increased but not decreased.  The CacheDrive will show two resizeable disks, one for the operating system (the first in the list), the other for data (the second in the list).
  • Memory Size - The amount of RAM that can be used by the component.  Increasing this value can improve CacheDrive performance, but setting too high of a value can prevent other components or the HC device itself from performing optimally.  Using the default value is recommended.
  • Virtual CPU - The number of virtual CPUs for the VM.  Increasing this value can improve CacheDrive performance, but setting too high of a value can prevent other components or the HC device itself from performing optimally.  Using the default value is recommended.
  • Allow allocation exceeding physical resources - Enable this option to allow for over-provisioned settings.
